MISTER LONELY

**Ends Thursday, July 10th**
"Rogert Ebert once remarked that Harmony Korine 'has the soul of a real filmmaker,' a judgment that MR. LONELY decisively confirms. Nearly every frame is an image of arresting clarity and beauty." - A.O. Scott, THE NEW YORK TIMES
"Unexpectedly moving and heartfelt ... downright elegant. There is something so strangely sweet about "Mister Lonely" that it was one of the most transporting films I have seen ... I wanted to leap from my seat with exuberance." - Mark Olson, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES
Filmmaking maverick Harmony Korine (Gummo) returns to the big screen with MISTER LONELY, an audacious and visually playful love story set in the strange world of celebrity impersonators.
A Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna, Y Tu Mama Tambien) lives alone (and lonely) in Paris and performs on the streets to make ends meet. At a show in a retirement home, Michael falls for a beautiful Marilyn Monroe look-alike (Samantha Morton, Jesus' Son) who suggests he move to a commune of impersonators in the Scottish Highlands. At the majestic seaside castle, Michael discovers the commune preparing for their first-ever gala extravaganza: Abe Lincoln, Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Stooges, the Queen, the Pope, James Dean, Madonna, Buckwheat … as well as Marilyn's daughter Shirley Temple and her possessive husband Charlie Chaplin.
As the ever-optimistic misfits prepare for the big show, and take the child-like Michael under their collective wing, our hero must decide if he can live his life pretending to be someone else, or if he must discover his own true identity.
Meanwhile, in a Latin American jungle, a drunken missionary (played by director Werner Herzog) leads a group of adventurous nuns on a highflying adventure…
Stunningly shot by cinematographer Marcel Zyskind and featuring extraordinary performances by a fearless cast, MISTER LONELY is equally poignant, hilarious and bizarre, and shows writer/director Harmony Korine at the top of his game.
