"Anand Tucker brings Blake Morrison’s autobiographical bestseller to the screen with sensitivity, humour and visual flair." - Anna Smith, EMPIRE MAGAZINE
"A writer seeks to bury the hatchet with his terminally ill dad in this extremely powerful drama ... Colin Firth, and especially Jim Broadbent, enthral us with wonderfully vivid performances." - BBC
Directed by Arnand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie), and adapted from Blake Morrison's bestselling autobiographical novel of the same name, WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER? is an emotional, unflinching exploration of a father/son relationship, as writer Blake Morrison (Colin Firth, Shakespeare in Love, Then She Found Me) deals with his father Arthur’s (Jim Broadbent, winner of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Iris) terminal illness and imminent death. Blake’s memories of everything funny, embarrassing and upsetting about his childhood and teens are interspersed with tender and heart-rending scenes in the present, as he struggles to come to terms with his father, and their history of conflict. Along his emotional journey, Blake learns to accept that one’s parents are not always accountable to their children.
