"The boys' first, and still their best, foray into cinematic stonededness." - Scott Weinberg, EFILMCRITIC.COM

"This movie will make your feel VERY funny ...."
There are some cinematic combinations that just never go out of style: Batman and Robin ... Turner and Hooch ... and of course, Cheech and Chong.
As the world rolls a big fat one in honor of the long-awaited 2008 reunion tour of legendary comedy duo Cheech and Chong, The Loft presents Cheech and Tommy's sweet-smelling 1978 film debut, UP IN SMOKE.
Our perpetually fried heroes play Pedro De Pacas and Anthony "Man" Stoner, two directionless musicians who meet up by chance on a highway somewhere in California. Realizing they are both 4/20-friendly, they set off in search of dope and are accidentally deported to Mexico where in their desperation to get home they agree to drive a van back to the States so they can get back in time for a gig they are due to play. Unaware that their van is actually constructed entirely of marijuana, the duo becomes inadvertently embroiled in a bizarre drug smuggling scheme. As they make their way back to the States, they acquire a couple of very strange female hitch-hikers, and are unknowingly tailed by a team of bumbling cops (led by the incomparably incompetent Sgt. Stedenko, played by Stacey Keach), whom they are not even aware are following them. Will the blissed-out buddies make it to their gig at L.A.'s Roxy Club in time for the show? Will Cheech end up in a pink tutu? And will the most eco-friendly van in movie history end UP IN SMOKE?
Check it out, man ...
