"Tasteless, violent and mean-spirited, SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is the perfect stocking stuffer for misanthropic Scrooges." - FILM CRITIC.COM
"He knows when you've been naughty ..."
This notorious Santa slasher flick from 1984 caused national controversy with its depiction of a mad, axe-wielding Santa offing both the naughty AND the nice (and sometimes, the nude) on Christmas. Disgusted mainstream critics slammed the film and scolded the filmmakers, and outraged parent groups tried to have it banned, which, of course, only added to the film's cult legend. And now, just in time for Christmas, you too can experience the warped wonder that is SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT!
Poor Ricky -- as a child he saw his parents slaughtered by a psychotic murderer in a Santa Claus suit, and then he had to go into an orphanage run by a sadistic nun. Now he's all grown-up and out in the world, with his first real job... doing guess what? Playing good old Saint Nick in a depressing department store! Soon, Ricky's fragile mind snaps and before you know it, he's slashing through the snow, searching for his prey! As he makes his way back to the orphanage for a showdown with the evil nun who made his childhood a living hell, Ricky spreads good "fear" during the happiest time of the year. Those little boys and girls just better watch out... cause Santa Claus is coming to town!
Bloody, creepy and often way over-the-top (exhibit A: topless Scream Queen Linnea Quigley impaled on a pair of deer antlers), SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is the gift that just keeps on giving!
